I’m not sure. I like the intention behind it, but I feel like using it is just asking for reply guys to harangue you with gotchas. Does your IDE use machine learning for code completion? Are you 100% sure that no gen AI was used anywhere in your tool chain? Are you sure that no code snippet you’ve found online was AI-generated? And so on. My games are hand-made and I proudly say so, but I’m not sure how to bulletproof a formalized claim like this.
Eh. I hate gen AI, but it feels a little self-congratulatory to give myself a literal medal for it, and there are humbler ways to communicate this like a quick note in the game description or the field dedicated to it in itch.io.
Yeah, there was something else I wasn’t putting my finger on, but that makes sense. I think more generally, I would just rather not talk about or call attention to AI on my game’s page at all. Steam and Itch require disclosing it now, and I have nothing to disclose, so I think that can speak for itself.
